Harvesting
Principle areas of supply come from the Antarctica (Superba) and the North East Pacific (Pacifica). During specific times of the year, krill gather in vast swarms which make them easy to locate and harvest. They are then quick frozen on board to lock in the nutrients and proteins. (see analysis) From this state, it is directly used as a feed or is further processed into dry or liquid states to be used whole or added to other commercial diets.

Krill are a type of shrimp-like marine invertebrate animal. These small crustaceans are important organisms of the zooplankton, particularly as food for baleen whales, manta rays, whale sharks, crabeater seals, and other seals, and a few seabird species that feed almost exclusively on them.
